Mobile Neon Workshops 2017

The Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston

Inspired by Martin Creed's neon work? Join us to find out about what neon is, what it can be and how to make it! Start to create your own artwork and take it home.

Creed is one of the most influential and exciting artists today and was awarded the Turner Prize in 2001. He was also chosen to welcome the 2012 London Olympics with a UK-wide bell-ringing performance which encompassed Big Ben to bicycle bells.

His exhibition at the Harris Museum features an eclectic range of Creed’s sculpture, neon, painting, video, music and performance, including one of his most recognisable neon Work No. 203: EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT (1999) installed on the front of the building overlooking the Market Square.

London: Make Neon Art

Learn how to make neon (yes you heard it right... CREATE NEON ART!)

Transcribe ideas into neon drawings, and learn how to fill the glass forms with gas to make energy saving, 100 percent recyclable light. This is a beginner's 1 DAY COURSE into the art that is neon. You'll design your sign in the morning and transcribe your design into a real life sign. You can make anything out of one piece of 1.5 m neon.

This price includes your transformer and gas of your artwork. No previous experience is necessary but by the end of the day you will take home a piece of neon that you have designed. You have the option to make it yourself or the tutors will help you as it's tricky for novices.
